We welcome as members Mothers of the Baby Scoop Era who have the time and energy to invest in research on the Era.

The Baby Scoop Era Research Initiative is a closed and private project that functions in an office-like environment. We are a work group focused on solely on research and education regarding the BSE. We are not an advocacy group, support forum or social group. Our project consists of the website, www.babyscoopera.com, and a message board. In order to join, and to protect members as much as possible, we ask that you send an email answering the following fourteen questions to us. After you have completed the questionnaire, please go to our Forum and sign up. Our Membership Task Force will review your application as soon as it is practical. Mothers accepted for membershp will be notified by email.

  • 1. Name:
  • 2. Current email address:
  • 3. City and State of residence:
  • 4. In what year was your child taken by adoption?
  • 5. Was it an agency or private adoption?
  • 6. Did you stay in a maternity "home?" (If yes, which one and where):
  • 7. Have you ever adopted a child? (If so, under what circumstances and what age):
  • 8. Do you agree that adoption should be substituted with "kinship care" or "legal guardianship?"
  • 9. Do you agree that terms such as "birth mother" and "relinquish" should be replaced with reality-based terms such as "mother" and "surrender?"
  • 10. Do you recognize that there is no such thing as an adoption "triad?"
  • 11 How did you hear about BSERI? Were you referred ? If so, by whom?
  • 12. Are you a member of any other adoption related group? If so, what screen names do you use in the other groups?
  • 13. What skills can you contribute to the project?
  • 14. Have you read and do you accept the BSERI mission statement?

Once we receive your application information, it will be reviewed by our Membership Task Force. Mothers accepted as members will be notified by email.

BSERI is a private, closed research and study group. While BSERI welcomes interested BSE Mothers to participate in the project, it is this group's policy that what goes on at BSERI stays at BSERI. Admission to BSERI brings with it the responsibility of respecting the privacy and safety of others who participate. This group exists in an office-like environment for work and action. The information contained within is considered "classified." As a result, any breach of privacy will mean immediate termination.
